Big Draw

The site is cut into strips with a basic width of 50m, but with different functions and naturally different area requirements in the different strips, then the variables of 5m, 10m, 25m or 40m are added or subtracted from the 50m base - this is the dimensional flexibility of the strip strategy.

1.Grid Planning

The grid overall plans the site space provides a clear development plan for the complex functional site.

2.Differentiated functional space

The site has a number of different spatial nodes, which are integrated into the site environment and have their own spatial areas.

3.Landmarks and paths

The markers of each node show the immigrant culture of different countries, and the path is the connection between different areas to enrich the walking experience

4. Main Building Location

The main building is placed in the center of the site. From the boundary to the building, we need to pass through different site landscapes first, and have a better architectural experience after understanding the cultural background expressed on the site.

5. Train line

The train route connects different nodes of the whole site to enrich the play experience of the site. At the same time, it is one of the ways to enter the theater in the building, restoring the scene of immigration.

6. Landscape planting

The whole site is not only an immigrant theater, but also a public landscape garden, where the green plants provide a better sense of experience and enrich the outdoor exhibition space.

"Theater’s immersive ability to activate more of the body’s senses makes theater a particularly effective method for teaching children empathy."

PLOT & MOOD & SPACE

This functional diagram shows the main functions in the Empathy Factory, which has three main sections, mainly the exhibition area, the immersion theatre and the workshops. The immersive theatre is arranged as the main body in the centre, where the circulation will be set according to the different story lines, ending at the large roof terrace. On either side will be the exhibition area and workshops. The exhibition area will consist of the history of migration, artworks, paintings and the products of the workshops. The workshops will have activities on different themes, including food, music, craft and drawing. Cafe and gift shop will be placed on the top floor. Support spaces and rest areas will be distributed between different functional areas.

How is our detail feminist?

This feminist detail shows the connection between the two Spaces of the immersive theater and the immigrant story exhibition. Scenes and objects from the theatre can also become part of the exhibition. In order to ensure that the audience will not be affected by the people and sight of the exhibition space, the wall of the partition adopts a unique window shape, so that the audience can observe the limited exhibits, and the actors in the room will not be interfered with the sight of the outside, so as to achieve a better immersive performance.
